On December 17, 2007, over 600 SC New Democrats welcomed President Bill Clinton to South Carolina to pay tribute and say thanks to the man who started it all - Gov. Dick Riley - founder of the SC New Democrats.

President Bill Clinton told the crowd of his 30 year friendship with Gov Riley and talked in great detail about all the innovations and progress in education that resulted from Riley's leadership, in South Carolina and the nation.
